Dieting, WoW Patch 2.3, Cake Decorating, and Crazy Mews – A.K.A The Everything Update Post
So…I’ve been dieting steadily for going on a year now. I’ve lost about 20 pounds (Yay!), and the eating part has been, all in all, rather phenomenally easy. Considering the fact that I generally ate very little anyway, I found that I actually had to eat more, and eat the right stuff (instead of skipping breakfast and lunch and then eating fried chicken fingers and french fries for supper) to lose weight. As I said, the “diet” portion was cake, and I actually discovered that I love to cook. After finding that I’d have to pay a fee to use a lot of tools on the Weight Watchers website, or most other “food/fitness/diet” websites, for that matter (which I really can’t afford), I was lucky enough to find Sparkpeople, which has all of the same tools, for free. It’s really helped me stick to the plan, though, as I said, I’ve done much better at the eating part of it than the fitness.
Ahh, exercise, down here in triple-digit weather, it’s not really something you want to do, and as a gamer, well, I have to admit that I generally prefer to be sitting down with a cat in my lap, and my fingers at the controls. Unfortunately, now I’ve hit a plateau. I’m eating well, but eating well is no longer enough to continue to lose weight, and I still need to lose a good bit to get back to my pre-college size.
It’s time to start working out. I’m determined to stick to it, this time.
Maybe I’ll look into a Wii and Wii Sports. One person on the Gamers SparkTeam suggested jumping jacks during those long gryphon rides that might be a good idea too. I usually spend that time knitting.
On the WoW front, looks like Patch 2.3 is coming out soon, hopefully tomorrow. This is the patch that promises easier levelling from 20-60, so if you want to make an alt, it’s about to be easier. Anyone who has read this blog before knows that I am a warlock girl. I have, under my account, at this moment: One level 40 gnome warlock, one level 53 human warlock, one level 60 human warlock, and one level 70 blood elf warlock. Right now, I’m wavering between playing my 70 belf over on Thorium Brotherhood, or perhaps playing my human warlock over on Emerald Dream. The majority of my game friends play on Emerald Dream, however my best friend plays on Thorium, and most all of them have alts on Thorium for when the PvP gig gets to be a little too stressful (as it does for all of us). I really miss the toon (my beloved, favorite RP character of all time, Meadhbh) and the people, though I do not miss the PvP. However, for the most part, I was able to brush off the occasional ganking, to be honest, though I am admittedly a carebear. It only really bothered me when other circumstances intervened to make me touchier than usual. It did, however, make it obvious that PvP servers are not very suited to certain personality types.
The other option, of course, is to start entirely fresh — something 2.3 is going to make easier — with a class I’ve not tried before (or perhaps one I’ve tried, but never made it to high level with). I have always wanted to play a priest. I did play a forsaken priest over on Shadow Council until about level 40, and I loved healing. There’s definitely something to be said about feeling essential.
My mother’s birthday is coming up at Thanksgiving. To put together my tendency toward odd creative impulses and my new-found love of baking (as well as my lack of funds for a real gift) I am going to make, and decorate, her cake. Since my mom is a girly-girl and loves all things fashionable (yes, the apple fell far, far from that tree), I’m going to make it into the shape of a purse. (as seen at Betty Crocker). My great-aunt, who’s house I acquired, was a cake decorator, and happened to leave a lot of cake-decorating tools behind….and naturally, I can’t have a toy at my disposal that I’ve not tried out, at least once. We’ll see how it turns out.
And finally, as I promised that this was to be an Everything Update Post, the kitten that my cousin found and foisted upon me is now All Grown Up. She remains small, however, likely due to the early kitten-formula diet that couldn’t possibly have perfectly mimicked a mother cat’s milk. She’s very playful and active, and has been given the nickname “RocketMew” due to her tendency to bound out of nowhere, jump straight at your head, cling to it painfully for a moment, and then disappear just as suddenly as she came.
