#FridayFlash – All Cats in the Dark
A/N: Today’s Friday Flash is NSFW due to descriptions of nudity and sexual situations. According to the Fiction Ratings System, it would be rated M. Therefore, I am hiding it behind a more tag. Read on if you wish.
“All cats are gray in the dark.” Isn’t that the saying?
It’s not even true of cats. I had two as a child, littermates and so identical that my mother could never tell them apart. I could, though, without fail. Both had long hair, but the texture was different. One had clingy, fuzzy fur, the texture of an angora sweater. The other felt more like velvet – soft, yes, but sleek and smooth.
When Cal comes to me, he is like that. Sleek and smooth. Narrow, fragile wrists and gentle manners. His face is all angular panes, the cheekbones sharp against my fingers, but with soft lashes and lips that I run my fingertips over, again and again. He is a contradiction of hard and soft everywhere, his hips flaring, his ass round and plump. But for the weight between his thighs and the flatness of his hairless chest, he would feel like a woman beneath my palms. His long fingers slide over me with studied precision, knowing me as I have known him, not needing to look in order to find. Where he is hard, it is a welcome hardness, a counterpart to his gentleness.
Hallie is soft everywhere. Her long hair tangles in my fingers, scented with honeysuckle. Her breasts are like a pillow perfectly molded for my head to rest on, her soft, spongy belly giving way beneath my fingers as I run them over her, seeing her with my fingers. I bury my face in her hair and breathe deep as my fingers seek out and find her softest places. Her returning touches are, in contrast to her body, rough and insistent, urgent, frenzied, the chaos to balance Cal’s precision.
And I, between them always, I never confuse the two. I know them on the first touch, on the first taste. I am always in the dark. When I hear that saying – that all cats are the same – I have to give a secret little smile, because the truth is, in the dark, they couldn’t be more different.
